Not currently. After your session, you will be provided with a receipt which you can submit directly to your extended health benefits provider to make a claim.  

No. No previous art experience or talent is necessary. The focus is on the process of creation and self-expression, not on the final product.

 In Canada, professional art therapists must have at minimum a master’s level diploma or mater’s degree in art therapy. This graduate-level education includes a minimum of 600 hours of supervised clinical practicum, ensuring client safety and professional accountability. A Registered Canadian Art Therapist (RCAT) has also completed an additional 1000 hours of client contact and 50 hours of clinical supervision post graduation.

Sydne holds a Master of Counselling Psychology – Art Therapy from Adler University and is a Professional Member of the Canadian Art Therapy Association, a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, and is working towards her RCAT registration.

No. Art therapists are trained to help you understand what your images mean to you, rather than assigning arbitrary meanings. The focus is on your own reflection and exploration.

The structure of each session may vary, but sessions often begin with a check-in, followed by art-making using various materials (paints, clay, collage, pencils), and then a discussion about the artwork.

No. Art therapy is highly effective for people of all ages, including adults and seniors.

Yes. Your artwork is treated with the same confidentiality as spoken words in traditional therapy. I follow professional standards of both the BCACC and CATA

No, there may be sessions focused entirely on talking, depending on your needs.

Art therapy is not graded or judged on technique. It is focused on personal inner experience and therapeutic goals rather than technical skill
