Individual Counselling and Art Therapy for Adults

At The Spiral Path Counselling Art Therapy, I offer trauma-informed counselling and art therapy for adults in British Columbia. Whether we meet in person at the Vancouver Therapy Collective space in Kitsilano (Vancouver) or online, sessions are collaborative and tailored to your unique needs and values. I am committed to providing high-quality care that meets professional standards and best practices as a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Professional Art Therapist.

I integrate talk therapy and art therapy (no artistic experience required) to help you safely explore difficult emotions, reconnect with your inner wisdom, build self-compassion, and move toward greater clarity, resilience, and authentic healing and growth.

Supporting You as You Navigate

Complex Trauma and Abuse

Many people carry the lasting impacts of complex trauma, relational trauma, emotional abuse, neglect, or other forms of prolonged interpersonal harm. These experiences can leave you fragmented, unsafe in your own body or relationships, overwhelmed my emotions, or disconnected from your sense of self.  In our work together, we create a safe, non-judgemental space to gently process and integrate these experiences. Using a trauma-informed approach, we can workn on:

  • Reducing the intensity of trauma symptoms
  • Rebuild a compassionate relationship with yourself and your body
  • Address relational wounds and patterns that stem from past abuse
  • Develop tools for nervous system regulation and emotional safety
  • Restore a stronger, more integrated sense of self and personal agency

Art therapy can be especially helpful here as a gentle way to externalize and process overwhelming experiences in a safe, contained space – particularly when words feel inaccessible or insufficient. The creative process, combined with reflective discussion, can promote nervous system and emotion regulation, support meaning making, and foster integration in a manner that feels both safe and empowering.

Grief and Loss

Grief is a natural response to any significant loss - whether the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, loss of health, identity, or a dream for the future. Bereavement can feel isolating, overwhelming and all-consuming. I provide compassionate support as you navigate the many layers of grief. Together we can:

  • Create space for all emotions - sadness, anger, guilt, relief, numbness, or yearning
  • Use creative expression to process what feels too heavy for words alone
  • Reconnect with meaning, memories, and your ongoing relationship with what (or who) was lost
  • Build resilience and find moments of beauty or peace alongside the pain

Sessions offer a warm, accepting presence where you can honor your unique grieving process.

Life Transitions

Life is full of transitions - some chosen, others unexpected. Major changes can bring excitement mixed with uncertainty, anxiety, grief, or a sense of disorientation. I support adults moving through these periods by helping you:

  • Navigate feelings of being "stuck," overwhelmed, or unsure of your next steps
  • Explore questions of identity, purpose, and values during times of change
  • Process the losses and gains that come with transition
  • Strengthen self-trust and decision-making from a place of self-awareness
  • Cultivate grounding practices and creative tools to stay connected to yourself amid uncertainty

Whether the transition feels exciting, painful, or both, we work at your pace to help you emerge with greater clarity and a renewed sense of direction.

Related Issues

The areas above often connect with other common struggles. I also support clients with:

  • Low-self worth and self-trust - rebuilding a kinder inner voice and sense of inherent value
  • Emotional overwhelm or disconnection - learning to understand, tolerate, and express emotions safely
  • Anxiety and depression - espesially when these are rooted in past trauma, loss, or difficult life experiences
  • Difficulty in relationships - including challenges with people-pleasing, setting boundaries, and insecure attachment patterns
  • Stress reduction and nervous system regulation - practical tools alongside deeper healing
  • Personal growth and self-discovery - reconnecting with your creativity, intuition, and innate wisdom

 How We Work Together

Every journey begins with a free 20-minute virtual or phone consultation to see if working together feels like a good fit. The first full session includes a thoughtful intake so we can understand your goals and create a collaborative plan.

Sessions are typically 50 or 80 minutes (if you want a little more time) and can be booked weekly or bi-weekly. We adjust the balance of talk and art therapy based on what feels most supportive for you in each moment. Using art therapy is not a requirement if this modality does not feel right for you.

My approach is rooted in empathy, authenticity, compassion, and deep respect for your innate wisdom. I hold a warm, non-judgemental space, offering gentle guidance and opportunities for reflection. You are the expert on your own life - I am here to walk alongside you.
